Five Primary Schools were honoured for improving the learning skills of the pupil and enhancing the availability of educational materials at their institutions.
The headmasters of the Panchayat Union Primary Schools at Thiruputkuzhi, Vallakottai, Nellikuppam, Mamandur-Thenpathi and Konganancheri received the honours presented by the Chief Education Officer, P.Usha at the District Sarva Siksha Abhiyan project office here recently.
While the PUP Schools at Thiruputkuzhi and Nellikuppam were honoured for implementing the phonetic classes successfully, the Vallakottai and Konganancheri schools received the honours for enhancing the availability of computers and other educational materials at their respective computer science laboratories through the Corporate Social Responsibility schemes of industrial houses and the Mamandur-Thenpathi school for implementing infrastructure development projects through the school management committee.
Meanwhile, enquiries reveal that the public patronage for the English medium of instruction introduced at Thiruputkuzhi school was not that much encouraging initially. But things dramatically changed as the teaching community and the school administration implemented the English phonetic sessions it with determination.
These sessions did the trick as the pupil grasped the English pronunciations with ease and tried it among their family members.
